A Light Little Jacket

Fall is upon us! I'm so glad that the weather is cooling down just enough for me to start lightly layering. I picked up this tweed bell-sleeve jacket when I was on the hunt for a statement piece that still went with everything in my closet, and I found exactly that. It is breathable and comfy with some stretch to it, and the navy color is easy for pairing. I went with a simple navy tee and lighter wash denim to keep the jacket as the center of attention. I kept the look from going too dark with white accessories. My loafers are G.H. Bass and Co, my favorite brand for classic and comfy loafers. I have the white color I am wearing here and a pinky nude color I wore in this post. They truly are one of the most comfy shoes that I own, and I'm currently eyeing these brown ones to wear this fall.

Anyway, I'm super excited to start sharing fall outfits on the blog, especially the one I am going to wear to Art Prize in Grand Rapids this Sunday. Josh and I go to Art Prize every fall and this time around, the little getaway feels much more needed! I love walking around the streets of downtown Grand Rapids, viewing all of the unique pieces, and of course, stopping by one of the local restaurants to grab a delicious bite to eat. The festival goes until October 8th, and I definitely recommend stopping by if you get the chance.

Early Fall Style

Even though it doesn't feel like fall in Michigan, I still am super excited about building a great fall wardrobe. I wear this sweater blazer all of the time with dresses, button-ups, and cute tanks because it's super comfy but is that finishing touch on so many outfits. Unfortunately, the camel color is backordered until November, but the charcoal color is still in stock. My favorite piece to wear with my sweater blazer is this army green utility dress. The ruffle details and bow at the waist make it feminine and are a great spin on this classic dress. I was on the fence about these glitter snakeskin flats for awhile because I was not sure how practical they were. Surprisingly, I wear them more than my tan or black flats since they are a neutral color and dress up almost any outfit!

Lastly, I have been on the hunt for a great matte lip color that doesn't dry my lips out. After trying different brands my favorite is this Smashbox liquid matte lipstick in the rose color. I use a neutral lip liner from Smashbox to make the lipstick precise and stay on all day.

Back to School Style

Happy September! Where did the summer go? Classes have started, the weather is getting cooler, and everyone's schedules are becoming more and more busy, including mine! With a jam-packed schedule, I realized my blog posts are getting few and far between, which makes me really sad. My new goal is to share one blog post a week here on forward. Between school, work, and friends and family time, there is so little time left for creativity to flow into the blog. But, I absolutely love sharing my passion for all things style, so I am determined to stick to my one-post-a-week rule. Thanks for all of the support!

I want to share my back to school must-haves, from technology to tennis shoes. First, even I am not the type of person to dress up for class and I definitely value comfort. These New Balance x J. Crew cropped leggings are the absolute best, and the navy color is something different, but goes with everything. I always love the darling details that Vineyard Vines adds to their clothing- there's always something too cute, like this gingham ball cap. This half-zip is perfectly oversized and comfy for those early mornings. Also, I've been on a mission to find light pink tennis shoes that are good for walking long distances and for the gym. These new balance sneakers in the color "confetti" are perfect for just that. They also come in a navy color for those that want more versatile sneakers, but I have found that pink goes with quite a lot.

A great laptop and comfy backpack is so, so important for school- especially for walking around larger campuses. I am not the most techie (even though blogging has helped me learn so much about my computer), but I knew that I wanted a great laptop that worked great for both homework and lots of photo editing. After spending some time online and in stores like Best Buy and Apple, I decided that the MacBook Pro would be best for me and would be working great for many years. I also needed a laptop sleeve to protect it while it's in my backpack. This Kate Spade lap top sleeve is sold out unfortunately, but here is some more great ones that are both protective and cute! Lastly, I mentioned before how a great backpack that is comfy to lug around campus is absolutely necessary. There are many great brands who make backpacks, like Nike and the North Face, but I wanted something that was very me. I found Madeline and Company through Instagram and after reading great reviews about the wear of their backpacks, I had to have this versatile grey one! It has multiple large pockets and the faux leather will be super durable for all sort of weather conditions.

I hope everyone has a great school year, enjoy!
